Biography
Breaking out of the ever-growing Ohio metal scene in 2006 when some of the members were not even of legal age, Miss May I self released a 5 track EP titled “Vows For A Massacre”. They eventually caught the attention of Rise Records who signed the band in the winter of 2008. The young metal heads then departed to Connersville, Indiana to record their debut full length “Apologies Are For The Weak” with mega-producer Joey Sturgis (The Devil Wears Prada, Asking Alexandria, Attack Attack!). The record was released in the summer of 2009 where it reached #29 on Billboard’s Top Heatseekers and #66 on Top Independent Albums.
After several successful support runs, Miss May I returned with their sophomore effort “Monument”. Delving deeper into the source of anguish that fueled “Apologies Are For the Weak” (selling well over 25,000 records in 1 year) the band continued to prevail when the record debuted at #76 on the Billboard 200 making it the bands highest charting album to date. Miss May I presented an even more eclectic side to the organized chaos they had earned a reputation for. Borrowing from a wider range of genres, the new album touches upon parts of thrash merged with melody and metalcore goodness. The intensity on Monument was unmatched by any metal release this year and all that emotion was that unhinged live last summer on the “Back To Your Roots Tour” as the band direct supported for The Devil Wears Prada on their full US tour doing sold out days in most major markets. The band continued to demolish crowds across the nation that following year with a successful Australian run with Parkway Drive and a spot on the entire Vans Warped Tour on the Advent Clothing stage. The band will close out 2011 with a European headliner and co-headlining North American run with Piece The Veil. Watch as these young guns become the next big thing in metal with their third release scheduled to be released in the summer of 2012 via Rise Records.
